    Forum Description

The “Old Testament God” and the “New Testament God” appear to be different, but in reality they are one and the same. This can be understood when looking at the Bible as a whole, which reveals that God has never changed and that His character is the same throughout Scripture.

The primary difference between the Old and New Testament lies in the way God revealed Himself to His people. In the Old Testament, God was known primarily through His laws, judgments and prophecies. He was a God of justice who commanded obedience and demanded righteousness.

However, in the New Testament, when Jesus came to earth, God revealed Himself in a new way to all who believe. Jesus showed us that God is not only a God of justice, but also a loving Father who desires to be in relationship with us (John 3:16). Jesus came to earth to show us that God is willing to forgive our sins and grant us eternal life if we accept Him and trust in His grace (John 14:6).

In essence, the God of the Old Testament is the same God of the New Testament. God does not change (Malachi 3:6) and His love for mankind has always been the same. Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” This verse shows that even before the time of Jesus, God was already seeking to reconcile us to Himself.

God's character might have been expressed differently in the Old and New Testaments, but the truth remains that He is the same steadfast, loving God who wants to bring us into an intimate relationship with Him.
