    Forum Description

The Bible has much to say about sex before marriage, and it is clear that God’s perfect intention for us is to reserve sexual activity for marriage. In the Old Testament, Leviticus 18:20-30 states “Do not have sexual relations with your neighbor’s wife… Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable.” This passage is part of the Ten Commandments and applies to all generations.

In the New Testament, 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 declares, “Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”

When we understand the biblical perspective on sex before marriage, we can better understand God’s love and His desire for us to follow His commands. As Jesus said in Matthew 19:4-6, “Haven’t you read,” He replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

God’s perfect plan is for us to save sexual activity for marriage, and we must respect His will. When we do this, we are honoring God with our bodies and living according to His commands.
