UniteChrist: A Community Committed To Christian Holiness

The King James Bible provides Christians with a standard for living a holy life. In Matthew 5:16, Jesus says, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” This verse teaches that Christians should live their lives in such a way that others will see the good that they do and praise God.

Christians are called to be holy because God is holy. In Leviticus 11:44-45, God says, “For I am the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. For I am the LORD that brought you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.” God desires His people to be holy because He is holy. He has set us apart from the world and has called us to be different.

Holiness is not something that we can attain on our own. It is only through the blood of Jesus Christ that we can be made holy. In 1 Peter 1:2, the apostle Peter writes, “Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.” We are sanctified, or made holy, by the Holy Spirit when we believe in Jesus Christ and His sacrifice for our sins. The blood of Christ cleanses us from all unrighteousness and enables us to live holy lives.
