How do you Get out of a Pattern of Sin?

One of the best ways to get out of a pattern of sin is through prayer and drawing near the Lord. The Bible speaks of the power of God’s grace in Romans 6:14 which says, “For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.” With God’s grace, we can draw near to Him and depend on His strength to break free from any patterns of sin, no matter how strong they may seem.

The Bible also encourages us to guard our hearts against sin by actively avoiding it. Proverbs 4:23 states, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” By being aware of the temptations around us and taking precautions against them, we can protect our hearts and minds from falling into a downward spiral of sin.

Finally, don’t forget to lean on your Christian brothers and sisters for support when it comes to breaking out of a pattern of sin. Ecclesiastes 4:12 says, “Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” Surrounding yourself with other believers will help hold you accountable and give you an extra layer of strength to overcome any temptations.

By allowing grace to take over and actively avoiding temptations, while also leaning on our Christian community for support, we can break free from the bondage of sin.
